The Worlds Inside People

What appeals pretty for me is almost non-physical.

I distant myself from people. I never go where the crowd goes. Not because I’m shy or insecure about the possibility of being out of place, but because what I long for is usually never found in the crowd.

I don’t like small talk. It usually drains me, making me charge myself back through introversion. I long for a real conversation. A deep one. An intellectual sort of talk. For me, socializing involves just one person and me, a cup of coffee, make that extra large if not refillable, a good ambiance, and long hours of just sitting there around the table.

What appeals pretty for me is almost non-physical. I’m more interested on what lies beneath the surface. I’m more on how a person speaks his mind, and on how he expresses his hidden self out.

I am fascinated by human behaviour. I am fascinated by the massive submerged part of human iceberg. I am fascinated by the strange patterns that differentiate every single person.

Every single person has an untold short story. Every single person has Moons, rivers and unfinished chapters. Every single person has a past that built his present. Every single person has a little nook filled with dreams and regrets.

I want to know what’s on someone’s subconscious. Someone’s makes and breaks; and, the reason why someone’s doing the shit he’s doing. I want to know someone’s overt and covert behaviour. Those that are known and unknown to the self. I want to know where someone’s mind goes when it wanders; and, which part of the world attracts him once I hand over a globe.

Surfacing through humanity wouldn’t take me any further. Yet, diving through someone’s ocean of hidden worlds takes a lot courage. I guess, I’d rather have a share of the latter than just by simply asking, “Hi! How are you?” Then get nothing at all after he replies, “Good!”

Redamancy

Redamancy

A writer’s soul could paint Autumn in Summer.

Fall in love with someone who dives into the depths of your mind, and measures how deep your oceans of intelligence are.

Fall in love with someone who gets amazed about your intellectual capacity.

Fall in love with someone whose hand could write all the emotions in the world, and whose mind could shrink the whole universe in.

Fall in love with someone who puts his love into writing as he acts upon it.

Fall in love with someone whose imagination is as wide as the universe, but not a dreamer.

Fall in love with a writer, not an actor.

Fall in love with someone who appreciates the sunrise as much as the stars at night.

Fall in love with someone who loved to be alone just right before he met you.

Fall in love with someone who loves watching you from afar.

Fall in love with someone who could hardly tell you, “You are beautiful.”  Yet, stares at you like you are the most amazing canvass.

Fall in love with someone who never tells you, “I want to know you more.”  Yet, it’s obvious through the rhythm of the words he utters.

Fall in love with someone who keeps his composure yet, whose smiles show how deeply interested he is in you.

Fall in love with someone who calmly approaches you as he let’s you be who you are.

Fall in love with someone who gives you all the space in the world yet, assures you of his presence.

Fall in love with someone who is silent but not timid.

Fall in love with someone who is reserved but not shy.

And, when he speaks, he’s wordy but not cocky.

Fall in love with someone who is bold but not bully.

Fall in love with someone who is confident but not boastful.

Fall in love with someone who holds you because he’s interested in you, but doesn’t take advantage of you.

Fall in love with someone who pushes you to your limit, but doesn’t change you.

Fall in love with someone who fights for you but doesn’t fight with you.

Fall in love with someone who’s strong enough to love a strong woman.

Jouska

Jouska

I like cancelled plans and missed trips.

I like the idea that not getting what you want is another stroke of luck.

I like finding something nice while looking for something else.

I like the flipping of the page to start a new chapter.

I like being awestruck in the moment.

I like the paling of the sky promising a new beginning.

I like watching the rain skittering down the window.

And feel the chrysalism I gain out of it.

I like walking on damped sideroads.

I like the astrophe I feel as I walk along.

And the petrichor I smell arousing from the wet grass.

I like bookshops’ vellichor.

And quiet coffee shops’ anemoic atmosphere.

I like this hypothetical conversation that I keep rolling in my mind.

I like being lost in ambedoic trancé as images from a distant past slowly yet, undeniably surface back in my mind.

I like having flight of thoughts.

I like the unsettling awareness of my own heartbeat.

I like to gambol on the staircase.

And to lilt in the kitchen.

I like my unkempt hair with over-worn pajamas.

I like empty boxes and scattered pens.

I like words and writing them.

I like silence.

I like space.

I like simplicity.

I don’t know why but I like not knowing why.

Lumos Solem: A Child’s Game

Lumos Solem: A Child’s Game

Lumos Solem: A Child’s Game

I used to raise a hand towards the tiny openings of an old wooden platform, face my palm straight towards the ray of 7:30 AM sunlight, and watch the back of my hand luminously glow in crimsoned red as I feel the warm wave of heat where morning dust particles arouse in the air.

I used to listen to the most silent form of silence and get amazed by the awkward monotonous buzz that I hear drilling through the inner lobe of my ears.

I used to get amazed by my own heartbeat, and would suddenly remember that I just forgot that I was breathing.  Then it amazed me once again.

I used to step out in the patio right after the rain and enjoy the smell of petrichor arousing in the air.

I used to stare at thin air, and question why I cannot see the air.

I used to watch flowers very closely and imagine Thumbelina tucked up among the buds.

I used to look for tiny little mushrooms that grow on damped woods where orchids used to flourish, look for dwarfs, and pretend that I was Snow White.

I used to wonder how worms hide beneath the soil and still can breathe.

I used to believe that if I hide my face behind a wall, the rest of my body would be invisible.

I used to wish to have superpowers as I used to play pretend that I could move objects and start a fire through mental telepathy.

I used to run as fast as I can towards my bed upon switching the lights off in the fear that demons will run after me.

I used to believe that the scariest task a child was ever obliged to do was to go upstairs alone in the night.  Watching the stairs itself used to freak me out.

I used to believe that the scariest part in my room was underneath my bed where nighttime crawlies awaken after midnight.

I used to imagine that my whole family was being killed and that I was next everytime I hear thumps while I was taking a shower.

At times I used to wake up late and that the hallways and stairs were silent, I used to believe that I was already dead and that I was walking in the ghost realm.  Then I would start looking for my own dead body as I try to remember as much as I can on how I possibly died.

I used to own a Jane doll, a big walking porcelain doll, the prettiest among my dolls yet, which face I used to place down flat on a pillow and cover with used clothes before going to bed for her eyes used to freak me out everytime I get awaken in the middle of night.

I used to play with Donald and Mickey, and never realized that one day, they will become leaders in the US.

My Super Mario Brother

My Super Mario Brother

Late post: 16/01/2017

My Super Mario Brother!
You were 16 years of age when I was born together with my twin sister. Since then, my childhood rollercoaster ride has begun!
To the greatest Electrical Engineer of my life, my big Super Mario Brother, Frank James William D. Pil ~ Happy, Happy Birthday!
Thank you for tolerating my tantrums.

Thank you for spoiling my impulsive behavior.

Thank you for always siding with my hyperactivity.

Thank you for intentionally losing the games to make me win. (Hahaha!)

Thank you for being one of those who used to place my Christmas stockings, which I yearly hang up on the seller, on top of oversized boxes of toys, which I wholeheartedly believed were really from dear old Santa Claus for long serious years. (Hmm, imagine that!)

Thank you for my Walt Disney Beauty and the Beast laser disc VHS tape, which I never got fed up of watching every morning before going to school, every afternoon upon arriving home from school, and every night before going to bed. Until now, I still memorize the whole movie lines from start to finish. (Could anybody get way crazier than that!)
Thank you for granting all my Walt Disney dreams, my wishes upon the stars, my wishes up on Santa’s lap, my grade school road drives, my family computer and Game Boy gaming consoles, my Super Mario Bros, Popeye the Sailor man, Contra, and all other 1000-in-1 console tapes, my first bicycle, my gallons of ice cream, the childish jokes, the urban legends, the tickles and run games up and down the staircase back in the old house, and for shutting me up by giving me what I want. (Tsktsk!)
You were the Jean Claude Van Damme and Sylvester Stallone of my childhood.
You greatly contributed to my princess-like childhood. Thank you for making it a living fairytale, which always make me smile with tears everytime I look back and remember.
And, until now, you still keep watching over me, which is too obvious to everyone around me.

Thank you for always being patient at times I change my mind a million times within an hour, and for believing that whenever we are together, I’m always right. Even though I’m wrong, I’m right! (Hahahahahahaha!!!)
Thank you so much, Kuya Jimmy for being my big brother. You are the best and you are THE MAN!!! ~ Yeah! \m/
HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Weekly Writing Challenge: Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction

Weekly Writing Challenge: Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction

real moments

A real moment in time!  This is an old picture I uploaded on Facebook captured last June 29, 2011.  I was with my sister by heart but not biologically related best friend named Wilmzie with his brother, Chris who captured this caught-in-a-moment, self-detailed photo for without any warning, he just flipped his camera from its case and decided to take our picture in this not-sure-to-be-trusted place at night for some reported phone snatch scenes randomly occurred.

01

It all started so funny for the three of us, so unplanned, unprepared, without any permission from the elders, decided to go to Enchanted Kingdom in Laguna, Philippines where all different kinds of Unlimited Rides of a lifetime can be found and enjoyed for the whole day.  So many things and unexpected events occurred along the way as we traveled to this nearby province just an hour and a half away up north Manila yet, we still managed to get there safely around three in the afternoon.

Then the magic began and the day started just right!

We enjoyed the whole day, taking unlimited pictures in almost every corner of the whole park and bravely taking breathtaking rides.

13

We enjoyed the food as well and talk along the way.  Everything in there was already almost nearly perfect and though we arrived there late in the afternoon, we still all felt like we got there since morning and enjoyed the rest of the day.

14

We did enjoy everything in there and the companionship of us, three as well.  We were like little kids running from one ride to another, laughing at one joke to another, eating from one store to another and living our lives like there was no tomorrow.  Bottomline is, it was all F-U-N!

15

It’s already night when we left the place and commuted a provincial bus back to Manila and along the way, we’re still very happy.  A lot of talks and chit-chats and knickknacks on the other hand.

I happened to be the walking map at this one-day out and I somehow got confused on where to stop to get home.  Bravely I assumed I knew it all along and so we stopped at a certain bus stop.

As we got off the bus, I looked around and definitely, it’s EDSA, the main access road in the whole Metro Manila that takes a traveler from one city to another city within the metro.  I proudly said, “Yah, we’re here!  And all we need is just one more bus ride and we’re home.”  Then so I tried to call for a bus yet none of them stopped over.  There were a lot of buses passing us yet none of them even dared to look at us.

“That’s weird!”  I whispered then I looked around again and there I realized that we made a wrong stop.  The right one was still almost half a kilometer away which we needed to walk at that time.  I so hated it.  I hated it because it was my mistake.  I always hate making mistakes and above all, to suffer the consequences there is to take.  Worse was that, it even took us minutes for us me to realize it.

So there, we walked until we got to the right bus stop.  Wilmz and I realized where we were and felt a little chill right up our nape and so we not-obviously glanced our eyes to each other like pretending that we understood each other’s thought, and alertly looked around while waiting for the right bus.

real moments

Surprisingly, Chris, her brother, without any negative thought and unaware of the place, took his camera, positioned the lenses and was about to take our picture which startled us and made us unconsciously react in very different unprepared ways that got so lousily caught in the above picture.  Funny how we reacted that got captured in the very first undeniable photo for what we actually told him was “Huwag!” a Filipino word that means, “Don’t!”  That’s because there were a few passers-by anywhere and not to take the risk, one in a million chance, the camera may get snatched.

I’m not saying here that this certain place along EDSA is indeed a notorious place.  It’s only that time where random occurrences were reported almost every night.  This time, I even walk the place some time at night all alone and I no longer get scared as how the place used to scare me before.

So, that’s the story of this cannot-be-denied startled photo.  I didn’t really like it at first time for I was so unpretty on the capture yet, looking back over the years, well, I still looked so unpretty yet the photo itself was so honest and genuine.  It’s funny to look back right at that time yet, though without words, the picture alone is enough to tell the whole long story about the three good friends who traveled out-of-town so unprepared and unplanned.
